Bedfont Heritage Trail Location 8 - Fawns Manor
Fawns Manor is a Grade II listed building first mentioned in 1272 in the reign of Edward I when Richard Foun held lands in Bedfont. It was occupied by soldier during the Civil Wars and has been associated with the Sherborn family since 1437.
The house consists of a long range East and West with a cross wing at the East end. Interior has old beamed ceiling to room at North East end, and central ground floor room has good oak ceiling with ¼ round-chamfered beams. Upstairs rooms with exposed structural and roof beams including curved wind-braces. It has a timber frame construction and was altered externally in 1889.
