The precise date for the original construction of St Mary's Church is unknown but it is thought that the earliest parts of the current in church that are formed from stone date back to the mid 12th Century. You can read an excellent article on the history of the church on the St Mary's Church website.
One thing you cannot failed to have noticed is the magnificent topiary outside the church formed from two yew trees. This is thought to have been originally created in 1704 but has fallen into a poor state at times in the intervening years between then and the present day. In 1990 the trees were recut into their present shapes by an expert and they are regularly maintained to this day in what is one of the most magnificent pieces of topiary in West London.
