Bedfont Heritage Location Trail 2 - Barclays Bank
Barclays Bank in 1955 was a much smaller building than you see before you today. In 1955 it only occupied the left hand side of the building. The rest of the building did not exist.
Where the left hand window is now was the location of the original doorway and the branch only occupied the building up to the first three windows. It expanded later to its present size where it continued to operate into the 2000's but ultimately fell victim to the banks branch closure programme resulting in Bedfont losing its only bank. Following this it remained closed to the public until Roberts Hunt, a local estate agent, moved from their previous location on the corner of Gould Road to the bank after an extensive refurbishment programme.
